Course Overview
This Working in High Risk Confined Spaces course is a National Occupational Standard (NOS) for the water industry. The NOS embodies the skill and knowledge elements, as part of the requirement for candidates to become competent. It is designed for managers, supervisors and operatives who may need to enter or supervise the entry into high risk confined
spaces for the water industry and carry out a variety of work
activities.
Who is the course for?
This course is intended for people nominated to work in or at
confined spaces where work has been classified as high risk
(NC4). These spaces are primarily enclosed and are a potentially
hazardous working environment where self- contained breathing
apparatus (BA) is required to be worn.

â– Enter and exit confined spaces safely
â– Prepare and use escape breathing apparatus in accordance
with manufacturers’ specifications
â– How to use equipment and tools safely and in accordance with
manufacturers’ specifications

â– Dealing with emergencies
â– Appropriate behaviour for working in high risk confined
spaces
â– Appropriate water industry knowledge for working in high risk
confined spaces
â– How to apply relevant water industry specific knowledge for
working in high risk confined spaces
Requirements
Candidates should be physically fit and medically capable of using
positive pressure breathing apparatus. It is advised to be clean
shaven when attending this course
