This course enables candidates to fully plan, organise and manage work in confined spaces at all levels of risk including legislative roles and responsibilities, health and safety considerations and equipment requirements.

Who is the course for?

This qualification for managers that are responsible for organising, planning and managing legislative and safety compliance for work in confined spaces. The manager may or may not supervise the actual job. This is a very detailed and high level qualification that only confident candidates should apply for. It will take candidates from the basics of confined space right through to creating safe systems of work for the most complex tasks

■ be able to apply the relevant legislative and industry requirements for managing work in confined spaces
■ be able to develop risk assessments relevant to confined spaces work activities
■ be able to identify suitable control measures for work activities to be undertaken in confined spaces
■ be able to develop safe working methods for confined spaces
■ be able to establish effective procedures for using permits to work
■ be able to develop effective emergency arrangements
■ be able to implement and maintain effective arrangements for document storage, review and audit
■ understand legislative and industry confined space requirements for managing work in confined spaces
■ understand how to develop risk assessments relevant to confined spaces work activities to be undertaken
■ understand control measures for work activities to be undertaken in confined spaces
■ understand safe methods of work for confined spaces work activities
■ understand procedures for using permits to work
■ understand how to develop effective emergency arrangements
■ understand procedures for reporting systems and risk assessments.

Candidates must have a clear understanding of both written and spoken English language. Interpreters can’t be used. All candidates must hold one of the following H&S qualifications: NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety NEBOSH International General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety City & Guilds or Level 6 Occupational Health and Safety or NCRQ Level 6 Certificate in Applied Health and Safety or NVQ Level 5 or Level 6 in Occupational Health and Safety Practice.

Can all delegates provide their own safety footwear (Steel toe cap boots), and comfortable working clothing. Gloves are mandatory during practical’s please ensure they are brought with you

  • Please ensure you bring a form of ID to verify identity (required by some Awarding Organisations) 
  • A photograph may be required to be taken on the day for ID card issuing purposes
  • We may also take general photographs for social media purposes etc… If you do not wish to be included in any, please inform your instructor
